The client approached us with the ambition of creating a landmark family residence in Northwood’s prestigious Copsewood Estate. The vision was for a property that offered scale and grandeur while remaining practical for everyday life, a home that could accommodate entertaining, relaxation, and multigenerational living with ease.
The client wanted a family home in Northwood’s prestigious Copsewood Estate — something big, flexible and full of modern conveniences. Our job was to take that brief and deliver a property that balanced size with warmth and sophistication with practicality.
1. Site Preparation
The build started with extensive groundwork. With a property of over 8,000 sq ft, we needed to reinforce the foundations to support multiple floors and expansive, open-plan spaces. Our engineers did detailed surveys to ensure the site was stable and long-term durable.
2. The Structure
We designed and built a concrete and steel framework, which allowed us to achieve the large open spaces the client wanted, including the kitchen/family hub and multiple reception rooms. This framework also allowed us to add a lower ground annexe and extensive garaging without compromising the structure above.
3. Internal Layout and Function
Next, we looked at the layout. We worked closely with the client to get the flow of spaces right for family life and entertaining. Five reception rooms were positioned to be flexible, and a second “chef’s kitchen” was added for entertaining on a larger scale. A boot room, laundry and annexe accommodation were designed to make the house functional day to day.
4. Lifestyle Features
This wasn’t just about size; it was about lifestyle. We added a full gym and wellness spaces, private annexe accommodation with its own access and generous garaging. Each element was coordinated so the house felt cohesive rather than fragmented.
5. Finishing
Our trusted trades delivered the high-spec interiors, bespoke joinery, and natural stone finishes, individually designed bathrooms (eight in total). Lighting, flooring and detailing were all tailored to the client’s preferences so each space felt unique yet connected.
6. Landscaping & Externals
Externally, we designed a gated carriage driveway to create security and a sense of arrival. The gardens were landscaped to provide privacy, green outlooks and plenty of family space.
The completed home delivers six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and multiple leisure and living spaces, a residence that feels both grand and welcoming.
